About Your Coach

From 1986-1992 I competed in Triathlon as a Relayer; my specialty was Half Ironman bike, since I was a Cat 4 Roadie. My team and I qualified for Nationals and enjoyed many years competing. In 1992, I learned to swim and competed in my first Triathlon; I earned a podium place from the beginning. For the next 5 years, I raced nearly 3 times per month, and made the podium (1st - 3rd) in every race, thereafter. In 1996, I competed in my first Nationals, and DID NOT qualify for Team USA. Deeply disappointed, I tweaked my nutrition, joined Masters Swim, rode at least 5 Century rides per year, and competed in every 10k I could find. My 5k times were 6:35 min miles, 10k - 7:31, and Half Marathon - 8:00 min miles. The following year I succeeded in qualifying for Team USA, and each year thereafter. I was lucky enough to race in Perth, Australia, and Lausanne Switzerland. I was 3rd American, in Perth, at my first Worlds.

From 1992 onward, I made the podium every year at such races as Wildflower Triathlon, Santa Cruz Sentinel, and Nautica Malibu. Wildflower Triathlon has a 98 rating of difficulty that goes toward annual USAT rankings.

I became a USA Triathlon Certified Coach in 1998; I have trained athletes from age 13 - 65. In the last four years, I have TAKEN my athletes to the podium, and continue to be very proud as they succeed! Please feel free to ask for references !

Whether your goal is to finish a Triathlon, or compete at 'the next level', I will take you there!

Throughout the nineties, I was Head Cross Country and Track Coach at Monterey High School in Monterey, California. As the result of my coaching, I was named a C.I.F. Championship Coach; my male athletes still hold the school records for the 800, 1,600, and 3,200 distances;  Varsity and Frosh-Soph. As Varsity Boys Coach, I was very proud to train my boys to the California State Competition, each year. My Freshman Boys "Lettered" in their first year, both sports, as well as making the Varsity Teams.

In addition to my coaching and personal competition, I have served as President of USAT Southwest (Ca, Nv & Az - largest region in the nation), am a member of the Writers Bureau for USAT, have a newspaper column "On Triathlon", am a CIF Championship Coach, and have created 3 Triathlon Training programs, locally, for Gold's Gym, and the YMCA. I have been immersed with my National Governing Body, USA Triathlon, for 24 years. Additionally, I served as a USAT Certified Official for 8 years, and was groomed to marshal the ProWomen at US National Pro Championships and the Ironman Hawaii World Championship.

I invite you to contact me for a consultation regarding your goals! I have been devoted to my sport for decades, and will be happy to impart my passion and coaching expertise to you.
